Child Safety

Every child has the right to feel safe and be safe, but safety doesn’t just happen on its own.

Council and staff are required to comply with several legislative requirements designed to prevent child abuse and harm from happening in organisations that provide services or facilities for children. In this section of the website, you will find information about some of these laws, how Council implements them and resources to support you to implement them.

Important Information

The Child Safety Compliance Officer must be notified of all child safety concerns, disclosures, incidents and reports that occur in relation to your work or service at Council. If you need to contact the Child Safety Compliance Officer, please email childsafety@cgd.vic.gov.au, or telephone 0418 100 919.

In the absence of the Child Safety Compliance Officer, the Manager of Governance, Legal and Risk can be contacted.
