Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace

The Australian Breastfeeding Association has accredited us a breastfeeding friendly workplace, as such we are embedding a breastfeeding friendly culture within the workplace. As a mother, this makes returning to work a real and practical option for you. In our workplaces you will be supported to take lactation breaks and you will be able to do this in private rooms with all the necessary facilities for mothers to hygienically feed and/or store breastmilk.

I'm planning a return to work. What should I do now?

We recommend you read Council's Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace Policy and Guidelines as a starting point.

We also recommend you consult your own lactation consultant to support you with this significant step in your return to work.

You should also discuss the timing of your return to work with your manager and Organisational Development well ahead of your proposed return to work date.

Closer to your actual return to work, please contact the Maternal and Child Health Lactation Consultant, Natasha Allen Hallyburton, to arrange a time to meet with you at the nearest Breastfeeding Friendly Workplace room for a brief orientation of the facilities, answer any questions and provide contact details for any ongoing feedback and support.
