Our corporate website ecosystem
We have six corporate websites (two are intranets) in total. Each of the sites are housed and maintained in one Content Management System (CMS) called Drupal 9.
At the core of each site is a customer focused design, delivered via a smart and easy digital experience. The sites aim to facilitate connection; connection to information, services and each other.
External websites
Council maintains four external websites; Council's corporate website, Drum Theatre website, Youth Services website and Jobs website. These sites are designed to provide our business and residential customers with relevant information about Council's services and functions while encouraging the use of self-serve options.
To support our aim for high quality customer service, the sites are layered with functionality that enables our Customer Service Team to leverage website content while following their own processes when serving customers. This functionality is called Council Assist.
Internal websites
Otherwise known as intranets, Council has two internal websites; the staff intranet (which you're on right now) - The Source and the Councillor intranet - MACCS. More information about Internal Communication.
Website Content and Maintenance
Every business unit of Council has content on our website which means every business unit has a responsibility to maintain content. There are over 2000 pages across the sites, so we rely on you to help us ensure content is up-to-date.
The Media and Communications Team is responsible for the management and maintenance of the sites and provides technical support and training for staff within Council.
There are also many staff members (web editors) who have the responsibility and training to edit content on the website as part of their roles. However, many departments do not have web editors and often require website updates.
Please try to make your requests well ahead of time to assist us with scheduling. We require requests two weeks before you require them to go online. If the job is particular large or complex we recommend making an meeting with the web team to discuss your requirements.
This process is for website updates only. Event listing submissions should still be made via the list your event form on the website.
Contact the Website team (Emma Featherstone on ext 5311, Miranda Harwood on ext. 5283 or Sia Gibbon on ext 5144) to discuss your request or email website@cgd.vic.gov.au
