Welcome to another tips article. We've put these articles together to help staff get the most out of our new digital tools. This article covers the notification system within The Source.
Just a little bit borrowed from social media, the notifications function largely replaces the daily news section on our previous intranet. We found the content in most daily news articles were just service related messages for staff and not really articles. While this information is important, it is usually short so we created the notification system to display this information.
There are five categories of notifications –
- HR – Organisation Development information
- BM – Building Maintenance information
- IT – Information Technology service information
- H&S – Health and Safety alerts
- All types - Other
Notifications show up in three places on The Source:
- as a red banner under The Source banner
- as a number on your avatar picture - top right of the header bar
- in the notification panel on the home page – bottom left, next to the Social feeds
The banners and number next to your picture will go away once you click the X (close) on the far right of the banner. But don’t worry if you missed part of the message as the notification still exists in the Notification panel further down the home page (bottom, left). Please note, these messages often have links in them for more information. These will take you to other longer form content - pages and news articles.
