This policy covers all full-time, part-time, temporary or casual employees and is designed to resolve staff grievances quickly, professionally and confidentially at the workplace level.
A grievance is a problem about any act, behaviour, omission, situation or decision an employee thinks is unfair or unjust and is work related. Examples could include performance reviews, leave applications, etc.
Exceptions
- If the grievance relates to a position description and classification or a failure to obtain a promotion or selection (internal applicants), an Appeals Committee may be requested.
 - Grievances or concerns about behaviour in the workplace are not dealt with under this Policy. Instead, they are covered by the Workplace Behavioural Concerns Resolution Policy and Guidelines.
 - If, after working through the Staff Grievance policy, a grievance about a matter that falls within the Enterprise Agreement remains unresolved, then the matter will be dealt with under the Dispute Resolution process of the Enterprise Agreement.
