Staff Grievance Resolution Policy

Dandenong Civic Centre

This policy covers all full-time, part-time, temporary or casual employees and is designed to resolve staff grievances quickly, professionally and confidentially at the workplace level.

A grievance is a problem about any act, behaviour, omission, situation or decision an employee thinks is unfair or unjust and is work related. Examples could include performance reviews, leave applications, etc.

Exceptions

  1. If the grievance relates to a position description and classification or a failure to obtain a promotion or selection (internal applicants), an Appeals Committee may be requested.
  2. Grievances or concerns about behaviour in the workplace are not dealt with under this Policy. Instead, they are covered by the Workplace Behavioural Concerns Resolution Policy and Guidelines.
  3. If, after working through the Staff Grievance policy, a grievance about a matter that falls within the Enterprise Agreement remains unresolved, then the matter will be dealt with under the Dispute Resolution process of the Enterprise Agreement.
