Youth and Family Services take out MAVLab Innovation Award

Youth and Family Services Team

#Filtered, The Body Image Project won the Wellbeing Award for Community Health Impacts at the MAVLab Innovation Awards Celebration.

#Filtered was a youth-led social media campaign created by young women, for young women to address the harmful impact of social media on body image.

The campaign was co-designed with Year 8 students at Killester College in collaboration with subject matter experts Butterfly Foundation and was brought to life by Vocational Major design students at Chisholm Institute.

Running from November 2023 to December 2024, the project educated young people - especially young women - on social media’s impact on body image, reaching 15,000+ users and boosting awareness of support resources for 94% of participants surveyed.

#Proud2Be was also a finalist for the Connector Award for Community Inclusion and Cohesion.

This inspiring project was co-designed to empower culturally diverse LGBTQIA+ youth in the City of Greater Dandenong. Through education and storytelling, #Proud2Be helped challenge stigma and promote inclusion in meaningful, community-driven ways.
