Staff Vaccination and HALO
Staff that have already come along to receive their flu vaccination this year will have been given information about the HALO principle of immunisation- to consider their overall immunisation status based on their personal Health, Age, Lifestyle and Age (HALO).
Councils Immunisation Team are offering advice on additional vaccines that are now available for staff through this new initiative. Several staff received vaccines that were recommended to them by councils' immunisation nurses, such as shingles and whooping cough vaccines. Positive feedback has been received so far, with many staff appreciating the convenience of having these vaccinations delivered in the workplace.
You may be eligible for free additional vaccines through the National Immunisation Program National Immunisation Program (NIP) and state-funded vaccines for eligible Victorian adults.

Increased risk of Measles in Melbourne
Measles is a highly infectious disease which can cause serious illness including pneumonia and brain inflammation. Vaccination with two doses of the measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine is required for immunity. If you were born during or after 1966 and haven’t had two doses of MMR, or you don’t know, it is recommended you get vaccinated. Any overseas travel could lead to exposure to measles, so ensure your routine vaccinations (including measles) is up to date. MMR vaccine is available free for anyone that hasn’t received two doses.
