Following a successful pilot across 10 Melbourne sites last year, the State Government has launched the Train and Tram Zone Activity Centres Program.
The program now includes 50 additional centres, with four located in Greater Dandenong: Springvale, Noble Park, Yarraman, and Dandenong. These activity centres are vibrant hubs where people live, work, shop, travel, and connect and often include train stations, shopping strips, and major precincts like universities and large retail centres.
The State Government is driving the development of this program however Council has already developed structure plans for Noble Park and Springvale, shaped through extensive community engagement. These plans guide future land use, public spaces, and building design. In Dandenong, Council continues to collaborate with the State Government through the Revitalising Central Dandenong initiative.
Council has shared its existing policies and plans with the State Government and is actively working to ensure they are considered in the broader planning process.
