Staff Permit Parking at the Dandenong Civic Centre

Walker Street

The Dandenong Civic Centre is a vibrant hub, with many visitors accessing the Library, Customer Service and our many other facilities.

Feedback from visitors has been that it can be difficult to find a parking space close to the building. 1/4P, 1/2P and Loading Zones have been strategically placed around the Civic Centre to provide parking spaces for short term visitors. It is imperative that we keep short term parking spaces around the Civic Centre available for visitors.

Council Fleet and Non-Fleet vehicles that have a Red or Gold “D” decal placed on the lower passenger side of their windshield have parking exemptions in certain timed and fee-paying bays. To avoid receiving a Parking Infringement Notice, review the staff parking exemption conditions for fleet and non-fleet vehicles below.

Staff Parking Exemption Conditions - 140.9KB

Please note that parking a vehicle with a Red or Gold “D” or Council logo will not stop you from receiving an infringement if you have stopped in a location that has a less than 1-hour parking restriction. This also includes No Stopping Areas, Loading Zones and No Parking Areas.

Should you display a valid Parking Permit, that will only be valid for the area, location and conditions listed. Your Parking Permit must be placed on your vehicles dashboard and be able to be easily viewed by Parking Compliance Officers when they are patrolling. Should any of the relevant details not be easily displayed, you may receive a Parking Infringement Notice.

  • If your Parking Permit indicates Civic Centre Basement, this does not allow you to park exempt free outside of the Civic Centre Basement in Garner Lane, 144 Thomas Street car park or other neighbouring streets.
  • Only holders of the Gold “D” are permitted to park at 144 Thomas Street (lane beside Monash Health).

With new technology that alerts Parking Compliance Officers of the length of time a vehicle has been stopped in a parking bay, now is not the time to take a risk and overstay when you have parked. Parking Compliance Officers must treat every offending vehicle the same, regardless of whether it is a Council/Non-Fleet vehicle.

Should you happen to receive a Parking Infringement Notice, please do not approach Parking Compliance Management to have that infringement withdrawn. You will need to follow the regulatory review process that can be found on the back of the Infringement Notice, or on Council’s website.

If you require further details of where and how long you can park, contact Parking Compliance.
