One Greater Dandenong: Working Together

Thank you and a pen

When an unexpected disruption recently knocked out several essential boilers at Dandenong Oasis, it was all hands-on deck to keep things warm for our community in the middle of winter.

Thanks to a fast and coordinated response from teams across Council and South East Leisure, new boilers were installed over the weekend, restoring hot water and heating to the showers, pools and wellness spaces in record time.

CEO Jacqui Weatherill applauded the team effort as an example of One Greater Dandenong at work, “The way everyone came together to tackle an unexpected issue was truly impressive. From developing a solution to ensure hot water remained available, through to installing new boilers within days – it was nothing short of remarkable.”

“The site is now fully operational, with hot water up to temperature and pools running exactly as they should. It’s a great example of what teamwork and quick thinking can achieve.”

And the work doesn’t stop there – the team is now exploring how the new boilers can be repurposed across Council facilities once Dandenong Oasis is decommissioned, and the Dandenong Wellbeing Centre opens its doors in 2027.

Well done to Building Projects, Sports and Recreation and Media and Communications - great team effort.
