We’re preparing for a system upgrade to the Merit 24/7 Production Environment—our first official Mission Upgrade—scheduled for Thursday 11 September.
This upgrade is part of our broader transformation journey and supports the finalisation of our Windows 11 rollout. The current version of Merit 24/7 prefers Windows 10 (we asked nicely, it still said no), so we’re moving forward with a version that’s ready to work in harmony with Windows 11.
Who’s Impacted?
- Merit 24/7 users: You may experience a brief disconnection during the upgrade. Worst case? You’ll be logged out and need to log back in.
 - Thick Client users: You won’t be affected during the upgrade, but you’ll need to transition to the new version post-upgrade. It’s already available, so feel free to start exploring now.

When’s It Happening?
- Date: Thursday 11 September
 - Time: Early morning or after hours (TBC)
 - Duration: Up to 2 hours (worst-case scenario)
 - Precaution: We recommend avoiding use of Merit 24/7 during the upgrade window.

What’s Being Done?
- The vendor will perform the upgrade and basic testing before handing over the new version.
 - A full backup of the current installation will be taken prior to the upgrade.
 - If any system-critical issues arise, the rollback plan is simple: the old files will be restored from backup.

What’s Next?
- A one-page implementation plan will be sent to impacted departments.
 - Departments will be asked to nominate their Change Commanders to help guide their teams.
 - Weekly updates will be posted here on the Source.
 - A final Source update will confirm successful upgrade and include a direct thank-you to our Change Commanders.

This is the first of many Mission Upgrades as we build structure and familiarity into our system change processes.
Let’s make this launch smooth, collaborative and successful. Stay tuned for more updates every Monday.
