Microsoft Teams
Telephony project update
To date approximately 450 staff have been migrated to Microsoft Teams for telephony. These staff members are no longer using Skype for Business but are making all calls both internal and external via Microsoft Teams. The transition so far has been completed with minimal issues however as issues arise IT are addressing them. All staff targeted for migration will be contacted by IT, given access to learning material and be offered online, instructor-led, training. We are currently on target to having all Skype users migrated early in 2021.
Governance 365 (Objective/Microsoft Teams integration)
The Objective team have completed testing and are now in a position to work with Business Units to identify and create Teams. These Teams will be integrated with Objective to store all information associated with the Team.
Examples where a Team will be created are:
- Ongoing Projects where there may be internal and external participants
- Training Courses where participants will be communicating with one another – these would generally be held over a longer period of time
Please log a call with ITServicedesk for more information regarding setting up a Team within Teams. Someone from the Objective Team will work with you to determine if you actually require a Team or is this just a meeting/chat.
PC Replacement Program update
Since June 2020 IT have rolled out approximately 260 laptops to staff via the replacement program. IT have identified our final wave for this year of 180 – these will be completed in the first quarter 2021. As stated in previous articles the PC’s are rolled over on a 4 year cycle (new laptops will be 3 years) which means all staff should have a laptop by 2023.
IT Equipment and Transitioning back to the office
As some staff transition back to the office it is a timely reminder that all IT Assets that have been taken home must be returned as well. This includes, desktops, additional monitors, headsets, keyboards and mouse. Additional equipment requests will not be fulfilled. IT Assets that have been taken home are required to be available for use in the office.
