Increased risk of Measles in Melbourne
Measles is a highly infectious disease which can cause serious illness including pneumonia and brain inflammation.
Vaccination with two doses of the measles, mumps, rubella (MMR) vaccine is required for immunity. If you were born during or after 1966 and haven’t had two doses of MMR, or you don’t know, it is recommended you get vaccinated.
Any overseas travel could lead to exposure to measles, so ensure your routine vaccinations (including measles) is up to date. MMR vaccine is available free for anyone that hasn’t received two doses.
