Houston, we have a (planned) transition.
As part of our Windows 11 rollout, we’re continuing our mission to move staff from Objective Navigator (desktop) to Objective ECM (web). And a key milestone is just ahead.
Effective Monday 8 September 2025
- Links between Objective Navigator and ECM will no longer work
 - When you click a reference to an Objective record, it will only open in Objective ECM
 - The “Open in Navigator” option? It’s officially being retired

Also changing:
- When you share a record via email, you’ll no longer see two viewing options
 - From 8 September 2025, Objective ECM will be the only way to view shared records

Why is this happening?
Objective ECM was rolled out in 2020 with the clear intention that all staff would transition from Navigator to ECM. Since then:
- All new staff have been trained on ECM during induction
 - The transition period has long expired, and it’s time we all align on one system
 - Having everyone on ECM means we’re speaking the same language, power users are in one place, and we’re meeting our goals of upgrading to better, more efficient systems

We know there are a few exceptions—like users in P&R who still need Navigator for document creation—but these are the exception, not the rule.
So let’s get on board and complete the journey together.
A note on Windows 11 devices
As we continue rolling out Windows 11, please note that Objective Navigator will no longer be supported on these devices. That means:
- If you don’t have Navigator, it means you don’t require it to do your work and should already be using Objective ECM
 - If you believe you still require Navigator, a business case will be needed to justify the exception

We do have some approved exceptions already in place—but if you don’t have Navigator and think you need it, please speak with your manager and submit a request.
