Have you met Kate?

Kate Beveridge is Council’s new Community Engagement Lead.

It is exciting to have a dedicated community engagement resource for the first time in our organisation to ensure we comply with the Local Government Act 2020 and engage deliberatively with our culturally diverse community.

Before you engage with our community in any way please contact Kate to seek the best advice on:

  • why to engage
  • who to engage
  • when to engage
  • where to engage
  • how to engage

Kate will have both an internal and external focus to her role.

She will connect with our engaged and ‘hard-to-reach’ stakeholders and community members to understand how they want to contribute to and participate in Council decision-making.

Kate will also establish a consultation calendar so we all know when consultations are taking place throughout our community.

New internal processes and templates will be developed, our policy, framework and toolkit will be reviewed and Kate will oversee the internal Community Engagement Roundtable. The group will meet regularly to discuss upcoming consultations, share success stories and learn from each other.

The Source will also host a range of helpful community engagement resources in time to support your community engagement work.
Kate looks forward to empowering us all to build our community engagement capabilities that align to the IAP2 Framework

If you want to learn more and be involved, please contact Kate.

The next Community Engagement Roundtable is on Tuesday 3 October at 11am in the Dandenong Civic Centre, Council Chambers.
