Welcome to our Source series - the Fortnightly Five where we learn a little bit about our colleagues. This week it is Information Librarian Susannah Peareth-Kingston.
In 100 words or less tell us a little bit about a day in your job?
I split my week half/half at Dandenong and Springvale Libraries. As one of the Information Librarians, I need to be on the ball with patrons and colleagues. My day is pretty evenly spread between assisting patrons with queries, printing/photocopying as well as signing up new library memberships. The rest of the time is busy working on various projects that the library is involved in and training and professional development opportunities.
Favourite achievement in your time at Council?
In October 2023, I was privileged to have the opportunity to be given Mental Health First Aid training through an external provider. It was beneficial and I hope to utilise these skills with not only patrons but with other members of staff if necessary.
Favourite thing about Greater Dandenong?
The plethora of delicious food and new tastes that often end up in the break rooms at the libraries.
Outside of work, what fills your cup?
- My children- two boys- primary school age
- Dancing and going out with friends
- Catching sunsets and being near the water as much as possible (see photos)
Cats or dogs:
Dogs for sure- they are a very good judge of character. Their love is unconditional- doesn’t matter who you are, they will love you.
Quick take
Grateful for:
My healthy and happy children and living safely in Australia.
Favourite sporting team:
Matilda’s - Australian women's soccer team.
Currently reading, watching or listening to:
Reading - Maybe you should talk to someone - Lori Gottlieb. Watching - various documentaries on Kanopy (great free library resource) and listening to - 90s clubbing flashbacks.
