Fortnightly Five - Get to know Emma Featherstone

Welcome to our new Source series - the Fortnightly Five where we learn a little bit about our colleagues. This week it is our Digital Comms Officer, Emma Featherstone.

1. In 100 words or less tell us a little bit about a day in your job?

I enjoy my role as no two days are the same and I can be creative. I love working collaboratively with teams across council to develop their social media and marketing campaigns, because I get to know a lot of people in the organisation.

My day usually involves scheduling, monitoring and managing council's social media channels, creating, shooting and writing content, managing the council website and The Source and sending out eNewsletters (and sometimes I even get to dress up as Harry Habitat for photo shoots!).

2. Favourite achievement in your time at Council.

I have been involved in some amazing things during my time at Council (in libraries and Media and Comms) so it's difficult to pick one. A massive highlight is having our collaborative community cookbook 'The Share Plate' published a few years ago and working alongside so many passionate colleagues and community members on something so enjoyable. You can find it in the library or online here

3. Favourite thing about Greater Dandenong?

The amazing food options around the city.

4. Outside of work, what fills your cup?

Cooking and baking, going on adventures and getting outdoors with my family and our dog, a chocolate Labrador named Penny. I'm a self-confessed nature nerd and love activities like hiking, camping and taking photos of birds, animals and flowers.

5. Quick Take: Cats or dogs?

Dogs, but I have both. Penny the Labrador and our cats Rosie and Peanut.
