The ‘What is Autism’ online course offers an introduction to autism, providing practical knowledge on how to interact with Autistic people in an inclusive way.
Approximately one in 100 Australians are Autistic and 85% of the community has a personal connection with an Autistic person, making the course relevant for many.
After completing the AMAZE short course, you will be able to:
- Understand what autism is and the diversity of the Autistic experience.
- Understand the social model of disability and learn the importance of using strengths-based language.
- Understand what it means to experience the world as an Autistic person and appreciate the diversity and uniqueness of the Autistic community.
- Identify practical ways to be more Autism friendly in your interactions and behaviours.
The course is designed to build foundational awareness and takes about one hour to complete. It is self-paced and includes written, audio and video content. Note that the course is not accredited and must be completed in one session to avoid losing progress.
