Position Descriptions are assessed using the Banding Descriptors contained within Part B of Council’s Enterprise Agreement.
When initially reviewing a role for rebanding, the manager should be considering that an increase in the banding descriptors of accountability, judgement, decision making and qualification requirements have occurred.
Rebanding is about the position and not the incumbent.
Process
- The Manager / Supervisor prepares a Business Case
Business Case - Position Description [PD] developed using current templates to accurately reflect the new position specific responsibilities and skills as well as the new banding descriptors.
- The Business Case and new PD are forwarded to Finance and your Executive Director to review and approve.
- Once approval has been received, the new PD is submitted via the Objective PD workflow. The banding descriptors and classification will be assessed.
- Once Objective workflow is finalised, please complete a Variation to employment form.
Important information
Re-bandings cannot be backdated as the employee is not working to the updated position description until after Executive Director approval is received.
Note: Where the changes to the role constitute major change under the Notification of Change requirements of Council’s Enterprise Agreement, Council will undertake consultation in accordance with the requirements of the Agreement.
