Council’s Core Capability Framework – Building Organisational Capability through our People
What is Council’s Capability Framework all about?
- It helps establish a common language across Council for effective and consistent communication about capability.
- It supports Council to ensure we have the behaviours, skills and knowledge needed to succeed and deliver on the Council Plan.
- It helps Council build an agile, responsive workforce that is well equipped to deliver services.
- The levels within the framework help staff understand what is needed to progress. This aims to support staff empowerment and retention (as people feel valued and expectations are clarified).
- The Capability Framework will help inform OD activities across the employment lifecycle – job design, recruitment, retention, learning and development, performance, succession planning, career planning, leadership development and workforce planning.
How will it affect the way I work?
You will start to see parts of the Capability Framework integrated into common things like position descriptions, training and development plans and recruitment activities.
Over time, more and more people and culture related activities and processes will have the Capability Framework integrated into them.
