Make Your Move Greater Dandenong Physical Activity Strategy 2020-2030

Did you know that less than half of Greater Dandenong residents meet the recommended guidelines of 30 minutes of moderate physical activity per day?

We also have higher rates of diabetes and obesity compared to other areas of Victoria, and our mental health wellbeing levels are lower compared to the rest of the state.

Greater Dandenong is committed to changing this, so we’ve launched the Make Your Move Greater Dandenong Physical Activity Strategy 2020-2030.

Council is calling for the community and our staff to be more active. Physical activity reduces feelings of stress, anxiety and depression. It reduces the risk of obesity-related illnesses such as diabetes and cardiovascular disease and improves mobility. It’s also great way to meet new people, make social connections and build a sense of community pride.

  • We’re asking staff to join us in transforming the health of our municipality. You can do this by:
  • Pledging to be more physically active
  • Supporting your team to be more physically active
  • Using the Make Your Move Strategy to inform decisions related to your Business Unit
  • Working with the Sport and Recreation Team to collaboratively design initiatives that drive participation in physical activity.
