Reportable Conduct Scheme
As the Council provides health and care services for children, it must comply with the Reportable Conduct Scheme which commenced in 2017.
The scheme applies to the whole Council and not just to the services for children and young people.
It means that all employees, volunteers, including those provided by labour hire agencies, companies or other providers, all secondees and all directors of companies where the director performs work for the Council fall under the scheme.
The scheme requires the Council to respond to allegations of child abuse and other child-related misconduct made against its workers and volunteers, and to notify the Commission of Children and Young People (CCYP) of any allegations.
What type of conduct is reportable?
There are five types of ‘reportable conduct’:
- sexual offences committed against, with or in the presence of a child
- sexual misconduct committed against, with or in the presence of a child
- physical violence against, with or in the presence of a child
- any behaviour that causes significant emotional or psychological harm to a child
- significant neglect of a child
